Hailing from Luozhuang District, Linyi, Shandong, Tangya rice has been renowned 
with the saying, "When rice is cooked in one household, its scent spreads to 
all neighbors."

Since the Tang dynasty, Tangya rice had been collected by the government as an 
article of tribute. Today, Tangya tribute rice has been chosen as one of the 
first special agricultural products for the "Enterprises Boosting Villages" 
initiative in Linyi. The once "royal tribute rice" has now become a "local 
specialty" for ordinary  households.

To reshape the Tangya tribute rice brand and strengthen the Tangya tribute rice 
industry, Luozhuang District has leveraged the "tribute rice" brand to 
establish demonstration bases for Tangya rice. After identifying the 
early-maturing, high-yielding, and disease-resistant Xu-dao No. 9 new variety, 
extensive technical training has been conducted for farmers, leading to 
widespread adoption of eco-friendly cultivation practices. From sowing and 
cultivation to fertilization and pest control, strict adherence to a 
standardized, regulated management approach in line with green, high-quality, 
and high-yield rice cultivation techniques has been implemented to enhance rice 
quality and upgrade the value chain.
