X Japan’s Yoshiki Makes Surprising Appearance in Shanghai and Reveals New Plans

The H Collective launches China-Japan collaboration project with international 
partner Yoshiki, leader of X Japan. 

On June 17, The H Collective launched its China-Japan collaboration project in 
Shanghai at an event called “The Best + The Best - Infinite Possibilities.” 
Making a surprising appearance at the event was Yoshiki, leader of Japan’s most 
well-known rock band X Japan and special guest at the Shanghai International 
Film Festival. 

In a heartfelt interview onstage, Yoshiki talked about some of the most 
memorable scenes in We Are X, and explained how the documentary came to be 
filmed.The film records one of the band’s concerts at Madison Square Garden in 
New York. It is also the story of the life and dreams of Yoshiki.

Yoshiki plans to cooperate with The H Collective to get involved in more 
projects in China. He has also written the theme song and score for the 
animation film called“Spycies,” produced by The H Collective and iQiyi.The 
movie has been nominated for the Golden Goblet Awards in the animation category.

Apart from working together on Spycies, Yoshiki and The H Collective have 
formed a new joint venture to develop business segments in merchandise 
including cosmetics and fashion. Yoshiki will bring his unique sense of style 
to the partnership, as well as considerable experience in the fashion industry. 
His work with The H Collective will be a meeting of industry giants, and is set 
to produce trend-setting results.

Xiaoming Huang -- Chairman of The H Collective China Shanghai Puwan Culture 
Co., explained the theme of the China-Japan collaboration project: “The H 
Collective is not just a film studio. It also develops franchises based on 
movie intellectual property, including tie-ins, joint productions, and IP 
licensing. The next task for The H Collective is to mine and develop the 
intellectual property that we own on every level.”

The H Collective was founded in 2017 as an international entertainment and film 
group that invests, produces, markets, and distributes movies. Its business is 
rooted in the ownership and development of top-quality intellectual property, 
and the marriage of high-quality film content with blockbuster franchises. The 
company works with many leading producers and film artists around the world to 
create high-quality and original entertainment content for a global market.
 
In April 2018, The H Collective closed a deal with SonyColumbia Pictures to 
distribute and market up to four films per year globally. This deal has already 
produced its first movie: in May this year, the anti-superhero horror thriller 
Brightburnwas screening in 83 regionsglobally. This innovative story of an 
“anti-superhero” was loved by audiences, and gained a box office of over 
30-milllion USD dollars with only 6 million budget, showing an astonishing 
return on investment. The recent establishment of the Japanese branch of The H 
Collective and the close partnership with Yoshiki are all a part of the 
company’s global strategy. The next movie on the slate titled The Parts You 
Lose, premiered at the Sun Valley Film Festival in March. The movie will be 
released later in the year.
