The 30-day countdown to the second World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2019) officially began at a ceremony held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center on July 31. The event announced momentous new partnerships with global tech giants including Amazon, IBM and Microsoft, followed by a ceremony welcoming the over 800 student volunteers who will help bring the themes of the AI conference to life in just one month. Another highlight of the event was the symbolic "flag handover" ceremony symbolizing the transferal of responsibility to the young volunteers who will represent the best of the city in their delivery of the event. To enhance visitors' experience and add stories to the landmark tech conference along the way, the Shanghai municipal government has recruited 800 teenage volunteers from local schools.
